Temp theme.

While browsing around some website directories including the WordPress theme directory, I stumbled upon this theme and decided to throw it up as a temporary theme. I don’t plan on tweaking it unless I decide to keep it for a long time, so sorry if it hurts the eyes! I was getting tired of looking at my old theme.

I have a new theme sitting in a folder on my desktop that needs to be finished but I haven’t found the time to complete it. I pretty much have it all done except for the sub pages. I also figured that if I got a new domain I should use my new theme on that site rather than this one, but I have yet to come up with a new domain name. I’ll come up with something soon I hope.

when I realized that my Adobe Photoshop is messed up. It’s only letting me save files in four different formats and none of those formats include: .jpg, .gif or .png. I’m not sure why it’s doing that as I’ve installed and reinstalled the stupid program multiple times to try and fix it and I haven’t been able to find anything online as far as help goes. I’ll try again later to see if I can fix it, if not then I’m not sure what to do.

I think I found a new theme but unforunately it’ll require me to go in and tweak the files quite a bit. I won’t have much time to do this until later in the week so plan for that this coming weekend. I want to revamp my entire site and I would love to start fresh. I need to go into my databases and backup all the files and old entires that way I still have them even if I don’t put them back on the website. Is there anyway to upload old entires to another blogging site so I at least have them secured in one place online rather than just in a file on my desktop? I know you can use a plugin to cross post to Vox or LJ but that would take forever if I have to go in and individually cross post EACH entry ever made.

I’ve also been thinking about picking out a new domain name; I’d still keep this name since I’ve had it for ages, but a new name where it’s strictly blogging (no ads, no paid anything) but all the names that have come to mind are taken! Go figure. I’ll figure something out though. I wish I had more readship at my blog but I feel like a lot of people are turned away because of the linking I do, I’m not sure though…I’ll have to comment more and post more at forums so I can make new internet friends!

I’ve been trying all weekend to get logged into my WordPress so I could blog, but I haven’t had any luck. It wasn’t an issue with the site being down but just the site running slow, like always. Maybe I should consider switching hosting companies and looking into some of the promotional products or packages in this case that hosting companies are advertising. I’ve been with Surpass for years now, but the server my domain is hosted on seems slow as hell. It takes 10 minutes+ just to log into the control panel when I need to use it which is very rare and about 5 minutes+ to login to my wordpress to update. I know it’s not an issue with my internet being slow because logging in was slow even when I had cable internet. I saw a hosting company linked on another website that I visit that has pretty much the same prices as I pay now ($6/month) – I think I’ll check in to it.

I dug up my old Valentine’s Day theme from last year and activated it. I don’t have the time to fiddle with a theme and come up with a new concept so I figured this would do. I did find another theme that I want to customize that will be put up after Valentine’s Day. Speaking of Valentine’s Day, what plans do you have with your significant other or special person in your life? I came up with a few ideas of things I wanted to get for Alan to send to him, but I decided against doing one of them after thinking about it for awhile. I have an idea though of what else I’ll do, but I can’t talk about it here in case he decides to pop into my site.

Anywho, I haven’t been up to much. I really want to revamp this site and work on my blogging more; not so much how often I post but how I write. I use to write so much and I used to enjoy it, but over the last few years I got away from it. Hopefully, I can motivate myself to start writing again.

WordPress 2.7

I just finished upgrading my version of WordPress to 2.7; it never fails that I have problems upgrading mainly due to my slow Internet connection and having my FTP program time out because of it causing me to have to reupload files over and over again. So far 2.7 is impressive with a new interface design and having the option to post directly from the dashboard. It also allows you to collapse the boxes on the dashboard that you don’t want to see and allows you to see certain stats pertaining to your blog as well. It’ll take some getting use too but it was time for a change. We’ll see how it goes over the next few days!

I did a little more updating to the site and added a last played plugin as well as a netflix queue plugin to the sidebar. The last played plugin is a list of the last 5 songs played via Itunes and is transmitted to my site from last.fm. The netflix plugin I found while searching around the WordPress site for a plugin to display movies. It takes the movies I have in my netflix queue and adds them to the little plugin you see in the sidebar. If you click on a movie, it’ll allow you to see what order they are in. I think it’s pretty spiffy

Since I slept so late yesterday, I ended up being wide awake until 3-4am this morning so I took that time and updated the site some. I changed the eargasm section in the sidebar to reflect Anberlin’s newest album New Surrender – great stuff if you haven’t heard of them! I also updated the about me section. If the site goes back in maintenance mode it’s because I’m working on stuff, but for now I’m going to study!

WordPress 2.6.2

Someone please tell me why my upgrade to WordPress 2.6.2 isn’t working? I upgraded the other night and did the upgrade installation like I always do – followed the instructions on the site etc. It told me that it was upgraded and that my databases were also upgraded and yet when I log into WordPress it’s still telling me that “WordPress 2.6.2 is available! Please update now.” I ALREADY DID… not that it’s a big deal since my WP is still working and I can still blog, but WTF?!

I went ahead and started the transfer process of my domain from Yahoo! to Godaddy.com; if the website goes down over the next few days for any reason that is the reason why! I leave tomorrow morning to start driving to Kansas and expect to arrive sometime Saturday afternoon/evening, I won’t be available online until the week after.
