My sleep cycle is like a roller coaster, literally. I will go a few days, weeks or months where I’ll be able to get to sleep and sleep soundly through the night waking up the next morning feeling refreshed. Then something will change – I can’t pinpoint what – that causes my sleep cycle to get out of whack and I’ll go a few days, weeks or months and not be able to sleep hardly at all or get a good nights rest. I’ve tried sleep aids, cold medicine (especially when I DO have a cold) and they seem to help for awhile but then it seems as if my body gets use to having them and the effect wears off. I’ve tried everything – sleep aids, warm baths, relaxing music – but prescription medication…so far nothing has helped. I don’t believe I have insomnia or anything like that, I just have a hard time getting my body to rest. My mind never shuts off and if I do get a good nights sleep, I’m dragging by midday usually. I don’t know what else to do except talk to a doctor once I get my insurance next month but I don’t even know what to tell them because I’m not, NOT sleeping…I’m just not getting good sleep. Ugh!
