I took abnormal psychology when I was at community college and enjoyed it but didn’t do as well as I wanted too. Luckily for me it didn’t transfer into KU as an exact equivalent thus I am retaking it. Sure, I could have gone through the petition process to see if the course I took at Tech was similar to the one I am taking now and if so have it count as the abnormal credit I need for my core courses, but I figured – it was so interesting to begin with, why not see how the class is at KU? So far, it’s my favorite class by far and even though we aren’t learning about Mesothelioma (a form of cancer) – why would we since cancer has nothing to do with psychology! – I’m getting taught an in depth description and treatments about various psychological disorders. A lot of the things we’ve gone over thus far about stress and anxiety and depression really make a lot of sense to me because I’ve suffered from all of them. I’ve never been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder but after learning what I have I know how to control anxiety that is brought on by stress. It’s amazing what one can learn when they pay attention in class

When I was in college, I had to take a sociology course for my major. I was studying elementary education… and the required course turned out to be “sociology and psychology of serial killers”. Pause for laughs. The only way that *might* relate to education is identifying kids who will become school shooters.
Regardless… I absolutely loved that class. We spent the whole semester studying serial killers, and it was totally fascinating.
