One of the things that I like about the location of my apartment is that I can walk down the street, stand on the corner and be picked up by the campus bus. Not only does it take me to and from campus, it also saves me $200 that I would otherwise spend on a parking pass for a park spot that most likely will not be available when I get to campus since parking passes are oversold and parking spots are limited. However, while the convenience of the bus is great, there are some things one must deal with if one wants to ride it.
My first pet peeve are people who ride the bus and fill the need to sit near the front and take up two seats. Not only do they take up two seats, they watch everyone who boards after them walk pass instead of moving their backpacks to the floor or moving over so someone can sit down. I’ve watched so many people take up seats when the bus is completely FULL leaving other people standing when they could easily move over allowing one more person to sit down.
My second pet peeve are people who feel the need to blare their music while listening to their IPods. Okay, I understand that sometimes the buses are noisy with people talking and the general sound the bus makes, but seriously – COME ON! If I wanted to listen to music, I would bring my own IPod with me…and if I wanted to listen to shitty music, I’d ask if I could borrow yours. TURN THAT SHIT DOWN!
And lastly, my third pet peeve are the idiots who have to talk above the crowd on their cell phones. It is common courtesy when you are in tight quarters that you either, end your conversation or you talk softly with your “inside” voice! Not everyone cares or wants to know about your Friday night plans or how stupid X, Y and Z is for getting drunk last week. If the conversation is that important then tell the person you’ll call them back as soon as you exit the bus or take it to text messages.
Aside from the above, I enjoy riding the bus.

I really like this layout, it’s so pertiful. I liked riding the bus at campus too for the convenience factor. I honestly never noticed people taking up seats with bags though, I guess the consideration factor existed? It was mostly quiet.

Just remind yourself that all those cell phone/ipod people won’t be able to hear in ten or fifteen years. It’s perfect justice, that they will receive such a nasty punishment for their years of loud ipods.
