When I got accepted to KU and decided that I was indeed going to move back to Kansas to finish my degree, I made sure to take care of anything that needed to be done prior to leaving South Carolina. One of those things was my car issue which was taken care of by getting a new car and I made sure to update my insurance prior to leaving so that it would be on the new policy when it renewed. I also checked with USAA to see if I had to do anything else in regards to my insurance since I was moving and they told me that I needed to switch my residency to Kansas since that is where I would be living, but that really doesn’t make much sense to me. To me that says there are lots of college students from out of state who have to switch their insurance information to Kansas, either resulting in higher or lower premiums, for the duration they are in school even though they technically are not residents and do not reside in Kansas outside of going to school. Hrm.
After talking to my mom about it she told me to get a new car insurance quote for my car in Kansas and see what the difference would be in premium/monthly payments, if it’s lower here then I should switch it otherwise I should just keep it how it is so that is something I’ll be looking into this weekend!
