I’m alive and well.
It’s been a week since I left South Carolina to drive to Kansas, and I’m here to update you that I am alive and well but very tiring. I’ve been busy since the minute I arrived in Lawrence with orientation and getting setup for classes, then moving into my apartment on Tuesday, to starting classes on Thursday. I feel like I haven’t really had the chance to rest since I’ve arrived and I plan to take it easy over the weekend; I can feel it in my body…I’m tired.
My first two day of classes went very well and I’m excited about the rest of the semester even if the “newness” wears off within the next couple of weeks. The University of Kansas (KU) campus is absolutely amazing and beautiful and even though I lived in Lawrence for five years prior to coming back, I never really saw much of the campus itself. The only thing I have to get use too is walking all over the place, but I know in time my body will get use to it and not ache so much afterwards!
My classes this semester are as follows (remember, I’m a Psychology major, Sociology minor):
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- SOC 662 Corrections 11am - 11:50am
- MAT 101 College Algebra 3pm - 3:50pmTuesday, Thursday
- PSYC 310 Research Methods in Psychology 11am - 12:15pm
- HWC 204Â Western Civilization IÂ 1pm - 2:15pm
- PSYC 333 Child Psychology 2:30pm - 3:45pm
As you can see I have a pretty packed week, however, my Corrections (as in the prison system) course I’m not required to be there the majority of the time since the professor has setup his class to be more of a self taught/lead course which is REALLY nice; independent study. I originally was taking Sociology of the Economy instead of Western Civilization but when I went to the class yesterday I could barely understand the teacher (gogo, Korean teacher with horrible accent!); I got lucky when I found the Western Civ. section open up so I could drop the the sociology class.
Anyways, everything is going well at the moment and I’m very content with where I’m at in my life. I haven’t felt sad for one moment since I’ve been here and that isn’t what I expected at all. This post is pretty much a jumble of things but I wanted everyone to know that I’m okay and I’ll be updating much more after I finish getting settled in. Right now, I’m going to head to bed and hope that I won’t feel so yuck in the morning - my body is getting use to the climate change and I’ve come down with an attack on my allergies and haven’t been able to stop sneezing! GOODNIGHT

You seem to be doing very well, I hope things continue to stay that way. Interesting classes too.

Glad you made it to Kansas, I’ve never been there! Your class schedule is a lot larger than mine, I don’t think I could do more than two classes right now, so I’m envious of you
Allergy attacks stink. Hope you fee better soon.
