Apartment buys!

The last week has been fairly busy for me which is why I haven’t been around to blog much; Thursday of last week was spent at the Suzuki dealership getting a new car, Friday and Saturday was spent working – Saturday was my last day and I also went to see Pineapple Express with some co-workers, and since then I’ve just been hanging out with my family since I’m leaving on Friday.

My grandma said she’d take me shopping for some things for my apartment – mainly kitchen ware – and her, my mom, my aunt and her daughter (my cousin), me ended up at Target on Monday night to check some things out that I had seen in the Sunday ad. One of those things was a 51 piece kitchen starter set that was on sale for $24 dollars, but ended up being cheaply made so we passed on it. We didn’t get a bunch of things from Target like I had expected, but we managed to find a dinnerware set that looks similiar to these (the navy blue ring around them) on sale for $12; we were thinking about getting thesebut were a bit expensive for the whole set, and since it’s only going to be me living there I only need the minimum right now. We also found two sets of towels (bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth) in bright turquoise and yellow and a pack of washcloths for a pretty nice price!

After that, we all headed over to Wal-mart to check out what they had and found the majority of the things I needed/wanted from there. The main thing I wanted to get was a Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker, so I picked that up and it was on sale for $17 instead of $19! I let my mom and grandma pick out the rest of the stuff because they were all about finding flatware and utensils that weren’t cheaply made; we got a box of flateware, a nice cultlery and kitchen tool set (comes with the knives and a few other tools), an iron and table top ironing board, a set of sheets for my bed, and some few odds and ends like a pizza cut, chip bag clips, etc. All in all, I made out pretty good only leaving a pot and pan set to find and few other odds and ends. Hopefully, I’ll be able to fit everything into my car without any major problems, haha.

My mom is currently working on getting me setup with a 1br apartment I found in the Lawrence Journal World newspaper, so I’ll let you know how that goes when I find out the finalized information but for right now, it looks pretty promising as she already talked to the property manager a bit; it’s a 1br apartment for $570/month with all utilities plus Internet and cable already paid. I won’t be able to find a better deal tahn that, and evne though it may not be exactly what I want in terms of space or looks, it’ll do for now and if later on (say next semester) I want to find a new place, I’ll have an easier time since I’ll already be in town.
