I had an interview at Ultratan at 5pm yesterday and the interview went well; the lady who interviewed me was really nice but fairly loud…she was a young woman, I’d guess around 24, maybe. Anyways, she asked me a TON of questions that she wrote down my responses too and explained the details of the job such as pay etc, needless to say I won’t be working there. Come to find out, they are hiring for the store in Mount Pleasant which is much further for me to drive every day and would pretty pointless because of the distance for me to work over there, although she did say there was a possibly that she could train me at her store which is located in the town I live in…why they didn’t send me over to Mount Pleasant in the first place, I don’t know – I’d make sense to me that you’d forward the applications to the manager of the store you’re actually hiring for right? :hmm: Anyways…

She also told me that you are paid base pay which is minimum wage (around $5.98/hr) plus commission…that’s definitely a no go because unless you’re signing up a new customer with a tanning package and/or selling lotions you get minimum wage. I told her to go ahead and forward my application to the manager at the other store because at that time I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make a yes or no decision but after thinking about it tonight, I decided I’m not interested – I should have taken one of their advertising pens though and given it to my aunt since she has a thing for pens, and I noticed an Ultratan one sitting on the counter, at least I would have gotten something out of it! :P Despite the disappointment with this job (I was actually really excited about it) my cousin let me know that the managers at Old Navy are going through applications and will be calling people Monday & Tuesday so I’m hoping that I’ll hear back from them; I’m not really worried about it as I have a lot of experience working retail, and I don’t think they’d have a problem working around my schedule which I put down 2pm-close except Wednesday which I need 6pm-close and weekends anytime; after December 10th though I’ll be available to work any time slot since classes will be out. So, we’ll see…I’m just ready to get the ball rolling ya know? I want a job so I can start saving, I want to move ASAP
